After asking Devers to DH which he really didn't want to do, the Red Sox asked him to consider a move to first when Casas got injured and Devers pretty much refused. So the Red Sox essentially feel like he's not being a team player and are willing to get rid of the contract. Devers had a horrific start to the season..essentially getting a few foul tips in his first like 20 at bats with like 15 strikeouts. But since that he's hit really well

I do think the Red Sox could have handled it differently by asking Devers to prepare to play some first in the spring. He might have still balked at the idea.

In San Fran, I'd guess he'll be DH. Chapman is having a good season at the plate and was a plus level defender. I don't imagine they'll trade him right away. But maybe they look to trade Chapman in the offseason since his contract is a bit risky. I guess Chapman is out right now, and maybe the injury is a bit more serious than first thought.
