I mean, I think they traded Devers because they couldn't get along with him (they replaced him at third, made him DH, and then got mad when he wouldn't play first). I don't think it was primarily a cost issue, although this does reduce their payroll.
That's more than I thought they'd get to be honest. Young cost controlled potential starter, high leverage bullpen arm (I really like Hicks), and the Giants first rounder from the most recent draft.
