I agree that a couple of inches of height probably doesn't make a difference as much as strength and weight and there are plenty of C's in the 180 lbs range, like Jack Hughes, Robert Thomas, Sebastian Aho, Brayden Point, Tim Stutzle, Barzal, Bedard, Perfetti, Nuge, Pettersson, etc etc. It's possible to be effective at that weight and win your minutes against the other team's top 6.

The question is acquisition cost vs risk. You're presumably trading for a guy to sign him long term at 7M+ per season AAV, who has potential to be a 2nd line C or a 4th line C and the chances of the latter are probably more than 20%. What are you giving up, besides a mid 1st, to take that risk? Maybe a D prospect?
