Andersson is great in the room, but they aren't looking to sign him by all reports.

Kadri they see differently.

Make good asset building moves.

If the value of a player acquired is greater than the assets spent and he fits you do it.

I get what your saying and micro value viewpoint is important but this has to be balanced with an overarching strategy and aligning everything into a competition window.

The NHL rewards the worst teams with high draft picks, where its easier to get star players. The teams that were once good are now bad. The teams that were bad then are now good. There's lifestyle to every core, and you need to make your moves based around your lfircycle.

The flames strategy has been to minimize the downswing on lifestyle, but this seems to limit the upswing as well.
