Why not, like a trap door, or maybe a catapult buried under the leaves that'll fling the bear away from you?

Or maybe if you want something safer for the bear (unlikely, I know), maybe you could get a zookeeper to dress up like a sexy lady bear. It gets too close, out comes the zookeeper and the bear will lose all interest in you.
