Charges have been laid. He hasn't been convicted. You don't just lock someone up in jail because he has been charged with something. There is a thing called the judicial process. So why is he/was he getting paid? Charges have been laid, most people that have been charged with offences such as these are locked up until a trial is set, not too many people awaiting a court date that are being charged with a federal offence can sit at home, that's my understanding anyway.
And yes, i think that a cop being charged (especially in instances where youth are involved) should be treated differently than the average citizen, these are people that are suppose to be role models and are suppose to uphold the law, not break it.
I'll use this as a comparison, is Pickton going home each night after his trial? He's still innocent isn't he?
