I was just thinking about this the other night.
If there is no trade freeze imposed by the NHL, why do teams already out of the playoffs actually wait to make transactions until after the cup final?
I know we've heard the NHL discourages teams from making trades during this period blah blah.
We know NHL GM's are constantly bending the rules, negotiating extensions early, tampering etc.
You'd think there would be an advantage to using this time to better your club while others are focusing on their playoff runs and waiting to see how things play out for them.
