Bit of an odd rant there. While I agree that the final products never end up looking as good as the renderings (just look at the convention center across the street for proof), it's kinda weird to get worked up about "value engineering" when we don't even have any insight into the details or materials of this building. You may not like the design forms you see here, but I don't think that's what will dictate whether it will end up being a quality development or not. A simple box can look great, or like total crap... it all depends on the execution.
