Let's take a look at Panthers' road to the SC Final:
First round
They steamrolled the Lightning in the first game 6-2. then they shut them out 2-0 in game 2. Game 3, they got clobbered 5-1. I was thinking uh oh, Lightning back in the series. Game 4, Panthers saying, no problemo, came out beat the Lightning 4-2. And then proceed to finish the series with a 6-2 win.
Second round
They lost to the Leafs in the first 2 games with scores of 5-4 and 4-3, down in series 2-0. I was thinking, hmmm...Leafs' year? Panthers gonna get swept? They went home and beat the Leafs next two games and shut them out in one of them, series tied. They went on the road and clobbered the Leafs with a 6-1 victory. When I thought they are gonna finish the Leafs at home, whadda you know, they got shut out. Series tied again! Leafs' year popped in the head again. Then, Panthers came out swinging in game 7, beat the Leafs 6-1 and won the series 4-3, guess it's not Leafs' year after all.
Third round
Against the Canes on the road I thought they'll be in trouble but first two games they scored 10 goals and only allowed 2 and a shutout. When I thought holy poop, they gonna sweep the Canes. But then, they lost the next two games at home and got shutout in game 4. It seemed like Maurice has no way to stop the Canes. But game 5, they came out swinging again, finished the series with a 5-3 victory.
What I'm trying to say is that it seems like Panthers has that switch they can go from just cruising and then boom! Yes, Oilers have been cruising through three round, and that probably a problem for them. They haven't gone through any adversity and they haven't played a team that going along like a Chevy and then boom, fuel injected to be like a Lamborghini. And it's up to Knob to find a way to stop it.
Sorry for the long post, I think it's more of Panthers year to repeat than Oilers year to win it all.
