At #18, if you have the chance to take a potential homerun player even if there is high risk, I don't see a problem taking that chance. The back end of the 1st round is hit and miss anyway. I'd certainly prefer it to taking a player with average upside even if they are a lower risk of busting.
I am not sure how common Ryabkin is as a surname in Russia, but any chance he is related to former Flames 2nd rounder Dmitri Ryabkin? Just curious.
