Your math isn't mathing...Drai and Bouch bomb raises eat more than the entire cap increase.

They have $12M in cap space to accommodate Bouchard raise and decide which of Perry, Skinner, Klingberg, Brown they want to bring back. They're already at 19 skaters for next year. Bouchard would make it 20. I think maybe they might bring back Klingberg on a discount, maybe another player. That's it.
They won't be bringing back Skinner who has been relegated down the lineup as the season progressed.
It's not the EXACT same team but it is practically 99% of it.

Then the cap jumps $9M the year after and then another $9M the year after that. Which is more than enough to accommodate McDavid's new contract and then add additional players.
