Yup. If it can't make sense to someone like my dad, who has only seen episodes 1-6 in that he doesn't need to touch any other media to enjoy the show and understand who the characters are and what's going on without confusion, then safe to say they've failed at what they were trying to accomplish. Unless the show was just for Rebels and TCW fans.
