That is the risk a team takes trading for him, but that also is why he's available and not going to cost what it typically would for a player who's trending towards 80+ points and becoming a potential number 1 centre (or a high, high end second line centre).
At the right price though, it makes sense for a team like Calgary to assume the risk and make the trade as this is the type of player who could overcome the typical size you'd like to see in a #1C because of his frame.
