I agree and not just when looking at individual players, but the roster construction in whole.
We're already leaning with a slighter young group of core players in Parehk, Coronato and Zary.
But i'm torn. We'd all love a Barkov 1C, but like what do you do. We can't let perfect be the enemy of good and have to work with what's available. A Barkov type 1C is probably not available in trade, and if they are it's because they have many other warts. We're probably not getting that player at 16th+ overall either.
I'd also love a 6'5 PPG two way #1 Defender and if you look at the mold of most recent winners, they have one.
But we're going to have to work with what's realistically available.
Point was also a successful 1C of a perennial contender. 66 points in his second nhl season.
