From what I heard CSKA released him out of the last 2 years of his contract to pursue NHL opportunities. CSKA will retain his KHL rights, if he decides to return to Russia before the 2 years are up.
As I'm writing this, I just saw it's official as of yesterday(per the club's press release) -
CSKA and Prosvetov agree to part ways, and CSKA keeps his KHL rights. I can attach a Russian link if you'd like.
As far as willing to leave Russia, he actually wants the opportunity in the NHL.
