All this Byram talk was interesting.
Heard on a podcast this morning from the Buffalo perspective and was shocked at the kind of return they "think" they are looking at:
(I'll add they said Buffalo is looking for a top 4D/top 6 forward as a return, not interested in prospects/picks as the sole return)
Byram to CGY seems like it "makes the most sense" but the return was the hangup - mentioned guys like Coronato/Zary and Kadri.
Byram to SJ for Eklund and likely pick swapping to make it work.
Byram to NYI for Dobson and Duclair
Byram to MIN for Rossi
The list of teams that have what the Sabres want in return is very "small".
Ultimately think that Buffalo should find a way to keep him, but then said they don't think Buffalo will want to pay him as a #1 PP guy even if he improves. Comes down to opportunity and agree they don't see that happening in Buffalo.
SJ, CHI and CGY they feel are the best matches from Byram's perspective. Said he has all the power, and Buffalo has to make a decision here sooner rather than later (would prefer to get it done before the season ends). Ultimately comes down to opportunity and the ability to cement himself as the #1 guy in the immediate future.
