Dallas on paper has what appears to be maybe the deepest roster in the NHL save for the Panthers. The difference is that the Panthers have gamers that save their best for the playoffs which is a complete 180 to the Stars who have players that excel in the regular season but fold in the playoffs when the going gets tough. They will lose the battle of the top lines, although they should make it a saw off with Rantanen but even he looks to be a hot and cold player.
The depth is what is now showing up, and when you have 1 star up front who is hot and cold like Rantanen it makes things difficult.
Playoffs are another beast. Dallas might be able to get away with this during the regular season but the playoffs teams gameplan for you and they never make adjustments. Just like when Sutter pretty much gave up vs Edmonton saying its too difficult to shadow and line match.
