Such a weird season, in that I didn't particularly dislike anyone and it felt like they were amping up to play an interesting (cutthroat) game. At Merge there were so many big threats that it felt like we in for quite the ride... then it just became overly predictable and every vote was obvious. The final four was almost a given from day one, and there was never really a threat of any of them being voted out. I don't think anyone even brought up the idea of voting out Kyle or Kamilla. Eva was never a target because she had every possible advantage, and whenever they brought up taking out Joe he either won the challenge or it never went anywhere.

It made much of the season a real snorer, everyone knew Mary and Mitch were gonners, they could have merged a few of the tribals into one episode. I can't really fault any of the final four as technically they played near flawless games, but I found myself shouting at the screen on numerous occasions as the likes of Mitch, Shauhin, and Star just let them coast to the end. I prefer a season with a ton of unpredictability and gameplay, but 48 felt like handholding and singing Kumbaya by the campfire.

I also didn't particularly like Eva at the end. As someone else mentioned it felt like she used autism as her main strategy. Plus she came off as arrogant to me on a few occasions, with how she handled others. Maybe that's just because of the autism, but like how she was so easily willing to dispatch Star left a bad taste in my mouth. Then there's David who I was hoping would make final tribal interesting, but even that didn't happen. More Kumbaya by the campfire. Season 48 is where everyone talked a big game, yet no one was willing to make that big move.

I'm glad Kyle won, as I was worried they would hand the win to Eva. Kyle did deserve it, and hiding his alliance with Kamilla worked splendidly. It just felt too easy... Super easy barely an inconvenience. Too many are just happy to be in the game, and not wanting to rustle feathers. I really miss those earlier seasons when players didn't worry about how they'll come off on television and were cast based on human interest stories. Season 49 doesn't look any different. At the very least give us a themed season! Everything feels the same, right down to the same old lazy rehashed challenges.

Right winner for a disappointment of a season. Here's hoping 50 can pick things back up.
