On another note, I hadn't looked at our NMCs/NTCs in a while, and am noticing that if we do not have a good 2025/2026 season in terms of playoff contention, we've got some interesting things to look at:

Order from least to most protected (starting July 1st, 2025):

Andersson: 6 no-trade team list to expires 2026 --> No brainer to move, only losing out on 20% of the NHL being blocked.

Coleman: 10 team approved trade list, expires 2027 --> I think some contending teams would pounce on him at the deadline if he has a good season leading up to the TDL and some retention.

Sharangovich: 10 team no-trade list, expires 2030 --> Doubt he's moved any time soon unless we are needing to send a forward player back in a trade with cap. Farabee could be in the same scenario and easier to move with no trade protection.

Backlund: 15 team no trade list starting January 1st, 2026, expires 2026 --> Will be interesting to see how this one plays out. I don't mind keeping him as the 4C down the road, but I also see value in letting him cup chase with a contender. It ultimately depends on the state of the team next season. I do think we take a step back, and he could fetch something at the TDL.

Kadri: NMC until the start of 2026/2027 season, changed to 13 team no-trade list. Expires 2029 --> I don't think we trade him. Perfect center to move down the lineup like
Backlund as a great veteran down the middle.

Weegar: Cannot be traded without his approval, turns to 10 no-trade list on last year of contract (expires 2031) --> Doubt he's traded unless we're absolutely stacked on D by 2030.

Huberdeau: NMC throughout (ends 2031) --> Get used to him staying in a Flames jersey
