The more incriminating statement to me is when he texted that she was kind of weeping. Saying it looked like it hurt doesn't make it a fact that it did hurt. It also doesn't mean something was or wasn't consensual. It's not unreasonable to think it wasn't and I would lean that way, but it's not necessarily proof that it wasn't. I didn't see it reported that the accuser said that it hurt so bad when it happened (maybe it was reported and I missed it), but she did say that she was crying which makes Howden's statement about weeping more of an eye opener IMO.
Saying she was kind of or sort of weeping isn't exactly a definitive statement either because it sounds uncertain like he wasn't clear about it. But if it was weeping, that definitely points towards non-consensual because weeping or crying is an obvious signal that you want out of the situation. Pain on the other hand could be an unwanted consequence of a consensual act, assuming he was correct that it did hurt or he wasn't exaggerating in his text.
