Pretty sure people were saying Dallas was outplayed overall in both the Avs and Jets series, yet prevailed on the scoreboard in more games in both cases.
They're a team that is good at converting on their chances. We're so used to watching the Flames have to dominate and throw 20 pucks at a goalie to bag a goal.
Dallas has the talent to rest on their laurels for stretches of games, because they have that ability to turn it on at key moments. And that's why they're in the WCF.
Maybe it's time that their detractors adjust their expectations around them accordingly, instead of continuing to 'tell us' that at any moment they're going to fold because their underlying stats have said so all playoffs. Evidently it's not happening, bruv.
Oilers are a better advanced stats team these days, but for the bulk of McDavid's tenure they played games exactly like the stars. Opportunistic with talent that can finish, particularly on the PP. And that approach works when you have the goalie to support it.
