Panthers have $76.5M and 16 players signed for next season. And then Bob's money ($10M) expires after next year. It's a $95.5M cap hit - so that's $19M to sign 6 players.
If you're Marner would you sign a cheaper 1 year deal in Florida...and then sign an 8 year extension after that for bigger money once Bob's deal is up and the cap goes up to $104M.
If he leaves Toronto though I do think Marner's agent takes a 1+8 approach to this offseason with whatever team tries to sign him in UFA. He can sign a max of 7 with a team right now and that will cover his 28-34 year old seasons but if he does a 1+8 approach he will cover his 28-36 year old seasons.

Would you sign Marner, at Bennett's expense? Literally polar opposites. One plays his best hockey, when all the cards are on the table.
