Bump

Well now that his season is over, I don't think Mangiapane will ever see anything close to the 5.8 salary that the Flames gave him on his last deal. Getting a second round pick to get out of that contract looks to have been a pretty solid move. It opened up spots for younger players, who performed as well as Mangiapane may have in the role.

It will be interesting to see where he ends up this offseason. The league has money to spend, and the supply of players looking to take spenders money is not that deep. So I think he can still draw a pretty nice wage, but maybe 3 years at 3 and change per year? Hard to say if the Capitals will want him back as they did have a good year as a team, and he's likely still viewed as a decent third line option.

Hopefully the Flames have learned a lesson here, that moving on from these pricier vets who really are not producing what their contract is paying them and inserting younger players isn't so bad. If he's here all season does a guy like Coronato get back to the NHL as quickly as he did?
