You don't pay 14M/yr for 25-30 goals. If we're looking to add a high-end skilled forward, it should be a goal scorer who can gel with Huberdeau and help get him back to being a 80+ point player.
If they shell out the big bucks for Marner, maybe he helps Coronato & others increase their goal totals. But on the other hand, you can pretty much forget about getting into the Makar sweepstakes, as our cap situation will likely make it impossible.
The worst possible scenario is to end up like San Jose and be trapped in cap purgatory for a decade.
