Kadri and Backlund are on back 9 of their careers. If we trade for Rossi, we will have him and frost ad our centers, both sub 6’.
Teams that are left in the final 8 have C that are 6’ plus. We would get destroyed at C with Rossi and Frost.
I like Rossi as a player, I just don’t think you can win a cup with him as one of our top forwards. We see how physical the playoffs get. As painful as the process can be, have to keep looking for that big top C in the draft and would rather we keep first round picks looking for that player instead of trading for small skilled players who get you to the playoffs, but not through the playoffs.

My take is, the Flames can maybe do well with Frost or Rossi, but I’m doubtful they can with both. I don’t like the strategy of addressing their C depth by acquiring other teams redundancies. I don’t think that is a formula for success and, if anything, actually moves them further away from truly addressing the organizational need of a C who can carry the mail.
If the Flames are going to do something this year, I wonder if there is a way to move up in the draft to grab McQueen. He may fall and if he does fall outside the top 10, could, say, the Rangers be enticed to make a deal? I think Andersson could be a fit there but the Flames would likely have to add and I’m not too sure what that would be. Definitely think, though, that the Rangers pick will be in play.

Agree 100% on both posts. If you have a smaller guy on your team, better have some beef in the lineup to compensate. Those small guys have to either be hard-nosed like Point, or highly evasive like Kaprizov- they have to have ways of making room for themselves. The more small guys you have, the less chance you have of playoff success. Rossi is built like a fire-hydrant, but he can still be pushed around.
