Interesting read on Marco Rossi about his season and after game 1 of the Wild Vegas series. Most of his goals this year were scored in the high danger areas in front of the net…. He was in the 92nd percentile of high danger net front shots and 94th percentile in goals. He’s not a small perimeter player, but a compact, strong guy who has the guts to go to and skill to finish in front of the net. (Something the flames could use)
The “too small” and “can’t compete in the playoffs” stuff that Guerin seems to be leaning towards seems self fulfilling from Hyne’s coaching decisions too. He was demoted on game one of the playoffs to the third line in favour of Gaudrea and his ice time dropped from 17 minutes a night to under 12 (even in the two games where he was scoring, he wasn’t rewarded).
Certainly are risks with him, so I definitely wouldn’t give up the farm, but it feels like if Guérin is getting rid of him and Calgary can get him for cheap, it’s a good bet to take as he’s not a typical small centre.
