It’s unimaginable in today’s NHL to see a team’s captain fight in every round of the playoffs. While also dominating all over the ice. It’s fun to watch those old ‘04 games and hear the commentators discuss how teams just had no answer for him. If you tried to hit him he would hit harder. If you gave him space, he would rip shots right through goalies better than anyone in the world. Trying to agitate him would only make it worse.
As a flames fan, I remember worrying about the top players from other teams in each round of the ‘04 playoffs but, as the run went on, it became clear those teams needed to be afraid of Iginla. What a legend. It was in.
