Bowman was out of a job for three years. Quenneville for four.
People can argue that wasn’t sufficient of a price to pay. But it’s not zero price.
And I don’t think this is a case of some network of old boys protecting one another. Pro sports is extraordinarily results-driven. People with a proven track record of success are forgiven a lot. That’s as true for players as it is for coaches and GMs. Just look at the number of convicted felons who take the field to play in the NFL every Sunday.
