I’m playing devils advocate a bit here. I understand that Kadri has significant value to this team and the direction they’re headed.

Just wish there always a clear way for them to get their hands on a legitimate top line C prospect. Short of the Flames pulling a rabbit out of the hat it seems like it is almost out of reach and the Flames will spend their next competitive cycle hoping for a Daymond Langkow or Olli Jokinen can pass the test.

Honzek is a big question mark to establish himself as a top 6 forward, let alone a top 2 C. In most cases, the player turns out to be a winger. Further, I don’t think 2-3 years down the road he will be ahead of Zary, Coronato, Gridin, Sharangovich, Basha, Battaglia, Suniyev, or Farabee. He’s in a dog fight for his spot. Another strong draft or two, of which the Flanes have plenty picks and will probably add to that, he could be top 6 in the AHL.

Frost simply hasn’t demonstrated he’s a legit top 2 C either. At least not on a contender. Could he get there? Maybe, but I’d say he’s nearing make it or break it time. He’s on his second organization with a big opportunity for a player in his age range to grab a hold of a top 2C position, let’s see if he can do it.
