The Flames must be confident they can get their young top line C through the draft , or trade. Having Ritchie on the table for a 34 year old C must have been tempting. That said, it could have been a ‘no’ from Kadri in any event.
I’m doubtful the Flames are going to find much more than a middle 6 C at this years draft. If next year they are as good or even slightly better or worse, still don’t see a path to being in position to find their 1C.
Starting to wonder if the Flames are headed in a Detroit Red Wings like path. Of course there are differences, especially with Wolf, but is there going to be a glass ceiling they simply aren’t going to break without that premium young C, or elite scoring winger (McKenna).
