I find that kind of funny because I think the concept of “proper skill” negates the idea of there being a “proper sand wedge” (in the context of a sure-out not being one). A club might feel like cheating, but as mentioned, you sacrifice distance control for an easier out. Basically any wedge you use will have something it makes easy and something it sacrifices. I don’t think the Sure-out is remarkably different than a CB, Smart Sole, or CBX, and I think the smartest players choose the ones that work for them, and will choose clubs that “feel like cheating” because they do exactly what they want to do easier than other clubs.

The only reason to use a club you think is harder to use is because it does something you want it to do that the “easier” club doesn’t or doesn’t do as easily. There’s no skill points for choosing clubs you play worse with.
