That is a good point. The NHL is full of trades where NHL stars get traded for nothing because there are rumours where they want to play on specific teams. It is like that time Hanifin was traded to the Bruins so he could go home and spend the rest of his career winning in Boston.
This is doubly true when you have such a desirable place that players love to flock to like New Jersey. Why would these Hughes kids want to go home to a team in Florida when they can be in New Jersey??
The Canucks should probably trade for a 3rd rounder and feel lucky that they could even get that.
