CITYBEAT - CITY OF CALGARY PRESS RELEASE

Calgary - Late this morning near City Hall, the Mayor was
struck from the side by an individual with a cream pie. The
assailant, a middle-aged woman, was immediately detained by
the Calgary Police Service.
The Mayor said that he is disappointed that this sort of
behaviour seems to be becoming the "method of choice" of
people who want to make a political statement. Bronconnier
said, "As a public servant, you try to be as accessible as
possible. If people want to stop me on the street and talk,
Im always happy to do that  even if they dont agree with
me. But this sort of behaviour is thoroughly unacceptable in
a democratic society."

The Mayor also thanks the members of the Calgary Police
Service on-scene, and in particular the arresting detective,
for the swift and professional conduct.
"Our police service is the best in Canada," said the Mayor.
"Seeing them in action first hand, I cant tell you how proud
and grateful I am for the work that they all do.
