Sort of - I didn't get any of the really hairy part because I was too busy wondering about what happens if I bury the car in sand with no cell service and not a soul around besides the one dude that went by on an ox cart.
Here's the part where it was so steep we skidded down (the picture doesn't do it justice). We were supposed to go straight through, but it was a dead end up the other side.
We had to make a sharp left at the bottom of the little gulley, onto the dry river bed:
This is looking back at the dry river bed, but the last section actually was a bit of a road and had packed tire tracks. What we were on for most of it was more like what you see off to the right in this photo, just pure loose sand. There was one curve before we hit the "good" part shown in this picture where the sand got really deep and we lost a ton of speed quite quickly skidding around the curve. I was a shaky sweaty mess when we made it to the "tire tracks" and admit an audible cheer went up. Kind of like watching Flames overtime playoff hockey.
