In his time in the 90's and 2000's that culture he built with New Jersey was pretty effective. Those teams won three Stanley Cups with budgets that were a fair bit lower than what other teams were working with. So I think that deserves a lot of respect. Over the past 10 years those tougher methods don't work unless they evolve a bit, and it doesn't appear that he was willing to move enough there.
Still a hell of a career in hockey for him. Any of us keyboard warriors should be happy to trade places with him.
