Great way for Edmonton to lose in terms of what damages McDavid’s relationship with the team the most. An example of the poor team design letting him down after he (along with a lot of luck/help from officials) brought them back into the game. If the series follows this at and LA finds a way to win it, it will be frustrating for McDavid to the point he may be ready to move on.
Even look at the oilers down the stretch… both McDavid and Draisaitl were hurt so they rested them but kept having to bring them back in to save the oilers from falling into a wild card spot or be in danger of missing the playoffs. They have no draft picks and one of the worst prospect pools in the league. They are the oldest team in the league and every player is either on the verge of leaving their prime or have already passed it. If the oilers lose this series in a devastating way (or any way really), I wonder if it’s enough to push McDahid to walk to free agency.
