1. Trade Andersson for a solid or overpay prospect/pick
2. Coleman is a winner and sets a great example for younger players. Keep him unless he doesn’t want to be here at the deadline
3. Keep Backlund on 3rd line and continue to leverage his leadership and mentorship abilities with the younger players. Backlund plays a 200 foot game and is still effective (when healthy, which has been most of the time)
4. Rooney should be done as a Flame as there are too many younger options
5. Stay quiet
6. Keep Pachal
7. Bean can be traded
8. Keep Hanley
9. Keep Miromanov or send him down to the Wranglers
10. Keep Parekh in the NHL
Every team that is successful has a mix of veterans and younger, developing players.
We shouldn’t trade players like Backlund who is the captain, Flames 1st round draft choice, and has spent his entire career in Calgary.
You can trade him, but realistically unless he has a desire to be traded and chase a Cup, keep him.
