Larger club head, slightly longer shaft.
More forgiving contact due to the large club head, more distance, not as easy to hit off the fairway.

My question isn't why not hit 3 wood off the tee, it's why not hit driver. Just get a 12 degree full size driver and adjust it as desired. I would think for 80% or more golfers that would be the better option.

As I mentioned, the driver can get me in trouble on a tight course like mine.
On certain holes, you lose control a little and you're in big trouble.
Sacrificing a little distance and making sure it's in play is the move.
I'm fitted for a 9 degree driver and swing speed 102-105 mph; 12 would be a disaster for me.
I actually love my driver, just questioning the 2nd club in the bag.
This is where most people go to a 3wood, but wondering is anyone has gone mini driver instead and found it to be better.
I like my 5 wood off the fairway and hit that about 230, so I don't really need anything longer off the grass.
