Im now more in the "trade Coleman in the offseason" versus waiting until the deadline.

Trade Out:
Andersson
Coleman
Bean (or waive)
Miromanov (or waive)

Forwards:
Huberdeau
Kadri
Backlund
Forst
Farabee
Zary
Coronato
Sharangovich
Lomberg
Pospisil
Klapka
Morton
Kerins

That's 13 already, without considering players like Suniev, Honzek or Stromgren that may be pushing for spots as well. Plus any UFA's or players brought in via trading Andersson and Coleman.

Defense:
Weegar
Bahl
Pachal
Parekh
Brzustewicz

Leaves 2 spots. Kuznetsov, Solvyov, Kuznetsov or Grushinkov could all be ready to make the jump, and I wouldnt be surprised to see at least 1 of them push hard in camp. LD could be a major UFA target as well.

Re-Sign Vladar. He had some very good performances down the stretch. Gives some leeway until Sergeev can make the jump. I still think Cooley also has NHL backup potential.

I think the team is going to be much more competitive than people imagine, and we'll have a surplus of players and picks to potentially package and make the team better, now.
I agree with you that the flames have too many young D that need a spot:

Parekh
Kuznetsov
Poirier
Solovyov
Brzustewicz

If they trade Andersson and dump Bean and Miromanov you don’t have enough spots. Especially if Hanley comes back. I could see them packaging one or two of them in a trade for younger forwards. No use hanging on to all of them if there’s no where to put them.

I don’t necessarily agree on the forward front. I don’t see any young forwards that are better than what’s already on the roster unless there’s a big change over the off season. This is the area that I think the Flames could make the biggest gain via trades. They have a surplus of Defensemen this is why I think there will be some trades at some point.

I would resign Vladar if he wants to come back. He’s a good goalie and team mate. I doubt you’d find better on the open market.

The Flames need goal scoring. I do not see that anywhere in their system.

Also bet Conroy will worry about upsetting the chemistry in the locker room by going too crazy. It’s the team’s biggest strength in my mind. They have to stay above the cap floor too which I think will happen via resigning RFA and UFAs.

This will be a very interesting offseason.
