They actually have done a decent job with the blue line. Not long ago it was Quinn Hughes and... no one, Tyler Myers was playing first pairing minutes. Now they have Hughes, two other solid top 4 dmen in Hronek and MPettersson, and some young guys with potential to be solid if unspectacular in Willander, EPettersson, Mancini, Kudryavtsev and possibly Mynio. Seems reasonable to expect at least one or two of those guys to be players... and that's despite trading Hunter Brzustewicz.
Yet in the meantime, the forward corps has completely imploded. When they had 2 100 pt center plus Horvat they arguably had the best or near best center depth in the NHL. Now they have arguably the worst, and no one in their system who has even the slightest chance of being a top 6 C.
Maybe they massively overpay Sam Bennett to get him out of Florida but I doubt he wants to leave... just no solutions available really.
