Just for moral and for those two young to remember the Miracle on Machester, the greatest upset in NHL history.

The Oilers finished about 50 points ahead of the Kings and were the decided Stanley Cup favourites. They featured a young star powered lineup, whereas the Kings were more a team of veterans and castoffs. It was supposed to be a slaughter of epic proportions as the Oilers lead by Gretzky coasted to an easy Cup.

It didn't happen.

In 1982 the upset propelled the young Oilers to learn how to win and not be so arrogant.

This year, if the Oilers lose to the Kings the window pretty much slams shut and changes will have to happen to a creaky old Oilers teams with no depth, no good prospects and no draft picks and a cap issue that nobody wants for a team this old, creaky, prospect nacking draft pick lacking franchise.

I'm sure McDavid will sign with the Oilers, the pressure will be on him to sign a long term highest paid player in the NHL contract if he wants to stay, or he could look at a franchise clearly with the window slamming shut and think a nice life in Florida, or New York or California looks good.
