The Oilers haven't been doing anything that a dozen other teams haven't done. They're not the NHL's darlings, they're just taking advantage of the way the league interprets the rules.
Frankly, I believe they'll get no benefit from going over the cap in the playoffs. They'll get Evander Kane in the lineup, which does them no good at all; he's just another offence-only middle-six winger at this point, and they have more of those than they can use. Klingberg is a liability and hasn't played a full season since 2017-18.
Are you really circumventing the cap by adding two overpriced spare parts to your playoff roster?
