There's a reason why you don't see 19-year-old defencemen thrown into do-or-die games at the end of a regular season. It's not a ‘lame reason’. You just don't appear to understand it.

At 19, Makar was playing in the NCAA. Parekh has not been playing at a higher level of hockey than that.

A junior defenceman who ‘just plays his game’ is not going to have any idea what he's doing against NHL opponents. The very least he needs is a chance to learn the defensive system and get acquainted with his partner.
