Nobody is high-fiving over the cap space. They're pointing out that if a franchise has that much cap space, it is OBVIOUSLY not going balls to the wall to try to make the playoffs.

I don't know if you've noticed, but Arizona doesn't have a team anymore. At the time they were doing that, the cap was flat and more than half the teams in the league were over the cap and using LTIR to stay technically compliant.
