It's was an easy point lost for him as he didn't even come close to being on point to answering the specific question. He just blanket statements it with his main energy growth talking point.
I suspect his flittering of that one specific question will embolden Smith, pp and the Cons or nothing voter to really hammer on the Trudeau 2.0 schtick.
I always knew he wasn't going to win hearts and minds in AB, that was already decided well before Carney became PM. He just did a reaffirmation of that decision.
End of the day though, I don't see vote counts matter west of Manitoba so as long as he keeps on message that'll win him Ontario and QC and the Maritimes, the western vote won't matter.

I just watched his answer and I'm curious why you think it's a problem.
To the first part, he said that he's not interested in writing letters back and forth and that his focus is to get things done.
To the second part, he said that he will work with provincial, industry, and indigenous leaders to focus on and fast track pipelines and energy programs that are in the national interest. He also explained that the process will need to involve and have the consent of all these major players as it will stretch across provincial borders and territorial land.
He finished with a call to action for unity to get these projects done and move forward as a country.
He didn't bite on Bell's "guaranteed commitment" quip as it's just as simple minded a request as Bell and Smith are as people.
