The CHL in general just hasn't been producing them at the same rate as the NCAA and Sweden it seems.

Having said that, no defenseman in the OHL has put up numbers like Parekh in a generation, so what happened in the past might not apply in 2025.

So yeah, totally fair to have player comparisons with a lot of real estate in between. Parekh is a pretty unique player which make it hard to predict. He could definitely end up being a borderline generational player like Makar or a PP specialist that you have to manage more carefully... or anything in between. He probably is never going to have the defensive game to fall back on if the offense doesn't come, so it is kind of boom or bust IMO.
first off, I guess its kinda cool/weird to recognize that more of the NHL's top 10 offensive dman played minor hockey in Calgary , than played in the CHL

as for the top scoring D with CHL pedigrees (I may have missed someone but no intention to cherry pick the list)
all D+1 PPG scoring in CHL

Bouchard 1.17
Morrissey 1.24
Theodore 1.12
Harley 0.97
Weegar 0.97
Sergachev 0.86
Chychrun - NHL-

Hamilton 1.44

group average 1.11

Parekh 1.75

there is reason for some excitement here. his Junior offensive production is 1.6x that of what I think all would agree- Makar or no- is a nice group of productive dmen

I do appreciate that what I just did doesn't accommodate for all of the guys who didn't make it

but in the last 30 years the only guys scoring at that PPG clip (in the OHL anyways) are Brandt Clarke, Parekh and Ellis anyhow
