Why are conservatives still bothering to pretend the economy is something they care about? It’s been clear since Carney became PM that it’s just some combination of tax cuts, far right social conservatism, and greater alliance with or absorption by the US that’s driving that vote, collateral damage (including the economy) be damned.
I get it, PP has fun slogans and he hates woke. Very cool. But Carney has actually successfully helped several governments and businesses alike navigate serious economic hardship and come out the other side much better than expected. And he’s already reworked and made better the few PP proposals that made any sense, so PP doubled down and came up with a new version that would actively damage Canada’s economy instead of help it… genius stuff!
If you don’t trust the Liberals, fine. If you just hate “woke” and want to pay less taxes regardless of whether it means you pay more for everything else, great for you. Just give up the fake interest in the economy. You don’t care. Everybody knows you don’t care. So let’s just stop pretending.
Conservatives had their shot. They chose the worst possible people like Trump and Smith. Time to accept that maybe what you want is actually terrible for everyone, including yourself, if you’re not too proud, and avoid people having to live with yet another of your idiotic mistakes.
