Concrete is still best (from a sound perspective) but not all wood are created equal.

I mean, not all concrete construction is created equal either; a lot of the newer concrete builds in Calgary seem to have pretty crappy underlayment separating the flooring from the concrete, so there's still noise transfer for some things. But even, then I will take concrete over wood frame
every time.
