But TBH if we had Celebrini, Smith, Eklund, Dickinson, Chernyshov, Musty, Askarov... I'd be pretty happy with that and might end up attending more games to see some of those young guys.
The problem isn't avoiding where San Jose is right now. They are still early in the rebuild cycle with lots of entertaining young pieces and a lot of promise. Even with this season from the Flames and the Sharks being bottom 3...I'd still rather be in the Sharks position long term than the Flames position as a fan.
The problem is avoiding where Buffalo is...where you never really get out of the stage San Jose is in right now because you don't add the right pieces and all of a sudden you're stuck on the outside for 10+ seasons and don't even have the hope of "top young pieces" anymore. I'd rather be where Calgary is today, than where Buffalo is...because even though Buffalo likely has the better pieces they don't seem to have any idea how to actually get out of the death cycle of losing.
