I think Chicago would be absolutely insane to trade Bedard. They won't anyways, but they'd have to be insane to consider it.

They need to hold the course. Pitch hard for a big UFA winger (Rantanen would have been good, but Marner is also a great choice.) Draft the BPA forward talent this year (I don't think Centre is mandatory either, but they could use another centre) and then hit it again next season. IMO they are being undersold hard in this thread.

Add another really strong forward prospect this season and I think they have the spice. Probably need to sign another strong D man though- Ekblad? Someone like that will land in Chicago too. I think they're tanking on purpose this year.
